This past weekend (October 18 to 20) our U18 AA Niagara Falls Riverhawks team (sponsored by Inland Truck & Trailer Ltd.) was in Rochester, NY to play in the Empire State Showdown.
The team went undefeated in the 4 game tournament finishing with a record of 4-0-0!! The first game played Friday night against the Troy Albany Titans where our Riverhawks won 4-3. Goals were scored by Cole Bateman (x3) and Dylan Spoehr. Early Saturday morning our U18 AA Team played against Garden City winning 5-2 with goals scored by Jake Spoehr, Mason Neal, Cole Bateman (x2) and Lucs Dilibero. Later in the day our Riverhawks played against the Bedford Bears winning 5-0 on goals scored by Mason Neal (x3), Jake Spoehr and Samuel Tachjian. Cam LaBelle recorded the shutout win.
Niagara Falls was sitting in 1st Place overall and setup the Finals Sunday Morning against a Stittsville Rams who finished 2nd with a record of 2-0-1. Stittsville opened the scoring 2 minutes into the first period and it was not until 9:50 of the second when Colton Vig evened the score at 1-1. Cole Bateman on a PP scored 6 Minutes later to put the Riverhawks up 2-1 and Zachary Gagnon scored with 29 seconds left in the game to make it 3-1 and seal the victory. Travis Guttin drew the start in net for the Finals and was stellar to help secure the win!
