CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR COACHES
For the 2020-2021 “modified” season all coaches must have the following certification:
• U9 (Novice and younger) - Coach 1-Intro to Coach certification *No other qualifications are accepted
• U10-U18 - Coach 2 Certification (or higher)
In order to be qualified as Coach 1 – Intro to Coach for the 2020-2021 season, a coach must have completed:
Hockey University: ONLINE Coach 1/Coach 2
Hockey University – Planning a Safe Return to Hockey (new)
Respect in Sport (RiS) - Activity Leader
Gender Identity & Expression Course
Rowan’s Law Resource Review & Acknowledgement
In order to be qualified as Coach 2 – Coach Level for the 2020-2021 season, a coach must have completed:
Hockey University: Checking
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
If a coach currently holds a Coach 2-Coach Level “Trained” qualification that is expiring, their options are:
a. Complete the Trained to Certified process to be eligible for the 2020-2021 season, this process includes:
· Coach 2-Coach Level Workbook
· Making Ethical Decisions – Online Evaluation module
· Submit Coach 2-Coach Level Workbook to their Local MHA for approval
b. The expiring Coach 2 ‘Trained’ Coach who elects not to complete this process will be required to complete the requirements outlined for Coach 2 ‘New Coaches’ above in order to be eligible for the coming season
If a coach currently holds a Development 1 “Trained” qualification that is expiring, their options are:
a. Complete the following to be considered “in process” for the 2020-2021 season:
· Development 1 – Post Task Workbook
· Submit Development 1 Request for Evaluation form to their Local MHA
b. The expiring D1 ‘Trained’ Coach who elects not to complete this process will be required to complete the requirements outlined for Coach 2 ‘New Coaches’ above in order to be eligible for the coming season.
