Program Descriptions

REPRESENTATIVE:  Representative hockey is offered from Novice through Midget.  Teams are comprised of local and Non-Resident Players (where applicable) who desire a high level of competition and are able to make a tremendous commitment.  Competition and winning are integral parts of representative hockey.  Player ice time during games is earned based on skill, performance, attitude, commitment, and practice attendance.

TYKE SELECT:  This representative hockey program is offered to players born in 2009 ONLY.  Tyke Select is residency restrictive.  A high level of commitment and desire to win begins at this level.  While still traditionally a developmental representative program, ice time during games is earned based on skill, performance, attitude, commitment, and practice attendance.  In accordance with OMHA Rules, underage players are not permitted to participate. Tryout fees for our Tyke Select team will be $120.

HOUSE LEAGUE:  House League hockey provides the grass roots development for the NFMHA.  This program is offered from Novice to Midget.  This level will provide an opportunity for fun and physical exercise in a team environment.  Emphasis will be in improving skills, learning rules of the game, and fair play.  House League encourages equal ice time for all players.  Players will have one (1) game and one (1) practice per week.

ROSTER SELECT:  Roster Select hockey is a supplemental program offered through the house league.  Roster Select hockey offers additional development through increased ice time.  Ice time is offered with practices, exhibition games, and tournaments.  Weekly ice times are subject to availability.  Each season, divisional roster select teams are not guaranteed.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM (IP): Commencing the 2015 & 2016 Season, the NFMHA has decided to amalgamate the Learn to Skate and Tyke Instructional Programs into one.  This program is called the Initiation Program (IP).  Children born in 2010, 2011 and 2012 are eligible to register.  All participants will be evaluated at the beginning of the season and placed onto teams based on their skill level regardless of their birth year.

The Initiation Program has been developed by implementing Hockey Canada's Initiation Program curriculum and practice format, emphasizing skill development, and developed lesson plans.  This program will run two hours per week.

The cost to participate in this program is $360.00.  Only players currently enrolled in the NFMHA are eligible.
