Congratulations NFMHA Minor Bantam A Hockey Club!!
Submitted By Julia Paul on Tuesday, March 12, 2019
Congratulations to our NFMHA Minor Bantam A Hockey Club who were finalists in the Championship Cup tournament, in Niagara Falls, NY over the weekend of March 8-10.  The flyers finished the round robin portion of tournament with a record of 2-0-1 on their way to the finals.

Our Flyers won their opening game of the tournament against a tough Cheektowaga Warriors team 3-0.  Saturday then brought a 5-3 win over the Bud Bakewell Ice Hawks followed later in the day with a 0-0 tie against the Depew Saints. The Flyers finished atop the round robin standings and were now set to face off in a rematch against Cheektowaga in the finals.

The Championship game was a tightly contested game right from the opening faceoff.  With no score after the first period, it was finally Cheektowaga who broke through and scored first goal in the second period to make it 1-0. NF recovered quickly and scored the equalizer a few minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 before the end of the 2nd period.   Our Flyers then took the lead in the middle of the 3rd period to make it 2-1 but with 5 mins left in the 3rd period Cheektowaga got the equalizer to make it 2-2.

With the game tied at the end of regulation, the teams now faced off in an exciting 3-3 over time which included everything from scoring chances, end to end rushes and both teams trading penalties to where no body could score.  The 3-3 Overtime ended and now the teams moved to a shootout where our Flyers unfortunately lost in the 4th round.

Great job and congratulations to all the players and thanks to the many parents and family members who were in attendance supporting our team!
