2016/2017 Coach Mentor
Submitted By Andrea Tavano on Wednesday, June 01, 2016
Niagara Falls Minor Hockey Association is proud to announce it has retained the services of Hammer Hockey LLC owned by Niagara Falls Native, Nate Handrahan who will be providing coaching mentorship along with guidance for the organization, parents and players.

We feel it is imperative that we develop our coaches that will have a direct impact on the players and our team performances. Handrahan has been a part of NCAA D1 hockey as a head coach and assistant coach for both men's and women's hockey for the last 15 years.  He has extensive experience in building coaching staff as well as improving processes and planning.  Hammer Hockey Development also runs player development camps for Defencemen, Power-Skating and Adult hockey.  Nate was part of NFMHA AAA during his youth playing days, played for Niagara Falls Canucks Junior B for three seasons and captured the Sutherland Cup title in 1996.  After being drafted by the Niagara Falls Thunder (OHL) Handrahan opted to attend NCAA D1 institution Niagara University winning league championship titles capped off by a National tournament birth in 2000.  The Niagara Falls Native went on to play a year of pro hockey (ECHL) before starting his coaching career at his alma mater.  In addition to coaching at the collegiate level Handrahan has also instructed, managed or run hockey camps for youth and adult players for the past 20 years.  Hammer Hockey LLC was founded in 2015 and has run camps in Ohio, Wichita and now Niagara Falls, ON.  Nate resides in Columbus, OH with his girlfriend Kim, and his three daughters Haylee (13), Mara (10), and Lila (8) all of whom play hockey.
