Over the weekend of March 6-8, 2020 our Niagara Falls Flyers
Midget Hockey Club, won the Championship Cup Tournament. This is the second tournament this season that
our Midget club has won!!!
Our Midget Flyers started the tournament off with a 3-3 Tie against the Ice Hawks and then lost to the Rochester Grizzlies 5-0 and needing a big win to have a chance to advance, they defeated the Hamburg Hawks 8-1 setting up a rematch with Rochester.
The rematch was a tightly contested game with chances going back and forth. Rochester opened the scoring in the first period, but our Flyers scored with “1” second left in the 2nd Period to tie the game at 1-1 on a goal by Kaleb Nalezinski, assisted by Jake Keen and Keagan Thomson. Niagara then took the lead with 3:14 left in the game on a goal by Jake Keen, assisted by Tyler Weaver and Eric Stevens. Rochester pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, but our Midget Flyers were able to hold off the late push to secure the win!!! Congratulations to the players and team for another great tournament showing and win!
