This past weekend (Nov 1st-3rd) our U15 AA hockey club was attending the Buffalo Fall Frenzy tournament in Buffalo, NY.
The team matched up against the West Seneca Wings in the semi-finals, after trailing 2-1 in the 2nd period, the Canucks came together to cap off an outstanding comeback with a 6-3 victory over the Wings. A true team-building like win for the team, with goal scorers Christie (2), Gossen, Candeloro, Anders, Brown and a solid 23 save performance from goaltender Jaden Alexander.
With their semi-finals win, the U15 AA Canucks clinched a spot in the tournament championship against the Mississauga Terriers.
The tournament final was nothing short of what a championship game should look like. After 3 periods of hockey the Canucks and Terriers were tied at the end of regulation 3-3 with Christie, Anders & Nero on the Canuck score sheet. The game then went to a 3 on 3 sudden death overtime period with chances coming for both teams. Although ending in the tie being unbroken. This led to an exciting shootout to determine the 2010 Division Buffalo Fall Frenzy Champion. With the U15 AA Canucks to shoot first, Christie finds the back of the net with a five-hole goal giving the Canucks the shootout lead. Goaltender Bryce Folino did the rest for the U15 AA club in the shootout, shutting the door on all three Terriers shooters to win the tournament championship!
Thank you to all the players and families that travelled to support the team over this weekend!
GO CANUCKS!
